ANA Mileage Club is the loyalty program of All Nippon Airways. Among the five points programs we cover, only American Express Membership Rewards lists ANA as a US transfer partner. ANA is known for its premium cabins to Japan, so US cardholders with Amex points have a real reason to learn this one.

Who it is for
Choose ANA if you have Amex Membership Rewards points and want to fly business or first class to Japan on ANA. If you hold only Chase, Capital One, Citi or Bilt points, ANA is not available as a direct transfer from them, so look at Aeroplan or Virgin Atlantic instead.
Which points transfer
| Points program | Ratio | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Amex Membership Rewards | 1 point = 1 mile | Issuer source |
ANA's own page for US-issued cards says points convert to miles in units of 1,000, that you can make one transfer per day, and that a transfer takes 2 to 4 business days.
Rules ANA publishes for Amex transfers
- The Membership Rewards points must show in your ANA account before you can reserve seats.
- Once transferred, the transaction cannot be reversed.
- The name on your ANA account and your Membership Rewards account must match.
- American Express may cancel a transaction even after the points have transferred.
A recent warning
ANA posted a notice that some transfers from US-issued Amex cards requested around August 19 and September 3, 2026 did not reach members' mileage accounts. Amex confirmed the affected requests were canceled and the points were returned to Membership Rewards accounts. That is a reason to transfer a small amount first, confirm it posts, and only then move the rest.
Step by step
- Join ANA Mileage Club with the same name as your card account.
- Research on the ANA site. ANA's award rules, any fuel surcharges and the award reservation steps are on its site. Read them before transferring.
- Transfer a small test amount. Transfer the 1,000 point minimum, wait for it to post, then transfer the balance you need.
- Book under Award Reservation. ANA tells members to log in, open My AMC Account and choose Award Reservation or Award Upgrade.
- Keep records. Save the confirmation and check change and cancellation terms.
Tips and pitfalls
- Allow several days. With a 2 to 4 business day transfer plus a one-transfer-per-day limit, do not wait until the last minute.
- Look for award space first. Space on ANA premium cabins can be tight.
- Compare with other programs on the same flight using the calculator.
What we have not verified
We do not publish ANA award prices or fuel surcharge amounts. They are set by ANA and change, so confirm them on the ANA site before you transfer.
A sample planning routine
Because ANA transfers are slow and limited to one per day, build your plan backward from your booking date. Decide your target route and dates. Check ANA award space on its site. If you see a seat, count how many ANA miles you need and how many you hold. Transfer a 1,000 point test now, confirm it posts in two to four business days, then transfer the rest in the following days if needed. If anything fails, the points should return to your Membership Rewards account, but give yourself a buffer so you can try again. Keep every confirmation email in one folder in case you need to contact American Express or ANA.
Common questions
Can I transfer Chase points to ANA? Not directly. ANA is not on our list of Chase, Capital One, Citi or Bilt transfer partners.
Does ANA publish award prices? It does, in its award rules on its own site. We do not copy them here so that you always see the current version.
Are the August and September 2026 problems fixed? ANA's notice says the affected requests were canceled and points returned. We have not independently tested new transfers, so start small.
